In previous posts, I have briefly discussed to topics of:
- Building an email list
- How to email your email list using an autoresponder
- Learning how to start a blog
- Monetizing your blog
- Alternate ways to spend your “commute time” by learning a new skill
All of these posts tie into each other like pieces of a puzzle. Once put together, you will have the complete picture. That stated, there is one major piece that I haven’t mentioned yet. “What is that piece, Kevin?”, you ask. That piece is… driving traffic to your business, blog, or website.
For the purpose of this post, I won’t explain ways to use “offline” strategies to drive traffic.
To drive traffic using online, internet marketing, the most common way is to create links pointing back to your website. Sometimes this sounds easier said than done.
From an SEO (Search Engine Optimization) standpoint, not all links are created equally. For the purpose of this post, I won’t go into great detail except to say that there are “do follow” and “do not follow” links.
Many businesses or people create content on their Facebook page. They then link back to their web property. I do this quite often on my own Facebook page. Many people do this using Twitter as well.
There are many other “Web 2.0” or social media platforms to choose from:
A second way is to create links on other people’s websites that point back to yours. This is a version of what is known as “blog commenting”.
Another way is to create a “mini book” in pdf form. You create links inside the booklet. Then give away the book to folks as a gift who visit and opt into your landing, or “squeeze page”. The opt in page connects to your autoresponder. You now have a new name added to your email list!
Here is an example of a using a landing page in action.
Those are just a list of some (online) ways that you can drive traffic to your website. If I were to list all of them here, this post could be the size of a booklet. I will cover other, specific ways to drive traffic to your website in future posts.
